Birthday Celebrations – A day out in York and York Dungeon

A big apology for my blogging absence, I think this is the longest break I have had from blogging since I started! This week has involved a lot of home improvements, builders, electricians and stripping wall paper as well as a day off in York for my birthday so I have been very busy. I usually don’t schedule posts so the blog has missed out but I hope that you have been enjoying my new videos on my Youtube channel.

As you can see I had a wonderful birthday and did and saw some really fun things. I started with a veggie breakfast in Dare in Headingly which is so nice as they bake your breakfast making it feel less unhealthy and greasy. We then went next door to Love Rouge Bakery tea room with it’s vintage feel and range of cupcakes. Jon and I then headed to York as it is a city that I love and I had been sent some York Dungeon tickets from CityConnectWiFi who provide free Wifi around York.

We started off with a potter around the shops and stalls, walking down the Shambles and enjoying the brighter weather.

Unfortunately you cannot take photographs inside York Dungeon so I cannot show you too much. If you haven’t been before the dungeons show a series of historical stories through a number of sets with live actors entertaining and frightening you. Initially I nearly didn’t go in, I scare easily. I did manage to make it through though, our group of six on the tour had a fantastic time. It had a few jumpy bits but was a lot of fun and we had a great visit.

The last of our time in York ended in window shopping at Betty’s tea room and looking around the teddy shop. As you can see Betty’s easter eggs look absolutely amazing.

We finished off the day with some York Cocoa House chocolates that were delicious. It was a long and tiring day so I do look shattered in my birthday cake photo but I thought I would share it with you as I love the smarties and buttons cake decorations my Mum did for me.

I’ve been in Leeds for uni for almost three years and haven’t ventured to York in that time. Definitely going to have to plan a visit! I love scary/jumpy things like London Dungeons so I’ll have to make the York one part of my trip!
