A Day Indulging in Vegan Seville Treats

Seville, the heart of Andalusia, is known for its vibrant culture, stunning architecture, and delicious culinary offerings. But beyond the traditional tapas and churros lies a growing scene of plant-based delights that will excite any vegan traveller. On our recent visit, we explored two amazing spots for vegan Seville treats: Monasterio Heladería Artesanal and Chök. Here’s a taste of our indulgent day in Seville, or read our other food travel recommendations here.

Monasterio Heladería Artesanal: Where Vegan Ice Cream Dreams Come True!

We kicked off our day at Monasterio Heladería Artesanal, a charming ice cream parlour tucked away on a picturesque Seville street. Known for its artisanal creations and natural ingredients, this spot is a must-visit for anyone seeking high-quality frozen desserts. What sets them apart is their dedication to catering to different dietary needs, offering a range of vegan options that don’t compromise on flavour or texture.

Vegan Seville

We sampled two incredible vegan Seville ice cream flavours:

  • Hazelnut Ice Cream: Creamy, nutty, and utterly indulgent. The hazelnut flavour was rich and authentic, with a smooth texture that melted beautifully on the tongue. It had a deep, roasted nuttiness that made each bite heavenly.
  • Peanut Ice Cream: Perfect for peanut butter lovers, this flavour packed a punch with its salty-sweet balance. The creaminess was spot on, and the slight crunch of peanut pieces added an enjoyable texture. It was the ideal combination of sweet dessert and savoury satisfaction.

Both options were crafted with care, and the depth of flavour was a testament to the quality of ingredients used. As we savoured our ice creams, we couldn’t help but admire the artistry behind every scoop.

Chök: A Vegan Seville Pastry Paradise

Our next stop was Chök, a sweet haven that has earned a stellar reputation for its innovative and decadent treats. Known for its creative spin on pastries, Chök offers a range of vegan options that are just as tempting as their traditional counterparts.

We couldn’t resist trying their famous Krönut Vegano de Crema de Naranja – a vegan Seville twist on the beloved cronut (a hybrid between a croissant and a doughnut). This treat was a true work of art, with layers of flaky, buttery pastry encasing a luscious orange custard filling. Here’s what made it unforgettable:

  • Dark Chocolate Coating: The krönut was covered in a rich layer of dark chocolate, providing a luxurious contrast to the zesty orange filling.
  • Orange Custard Cream: The pastry was generously filled with creamy, tangy orange custard, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the chocolate.
  • Candied Orange Topping: To top it off, the krönut featured pieces of candied orange, adding a burst of sweetness and texture with each bite.

But we didn’t stop there. We also tried the following vegan krönut:

  • Mango Cream and Raspberry Chocolate Krönut: This was a tropical delight, filled with silky mango cream and topped with raspberry-infused chocolate. The balance of fruity and rich flavours made it a standout treat.

We devoured the orange krönuts on the day, saving the other krönuts for when we visited Cadiz beach. We also knew we had to take away for having on the road some of their selection of vegan muffins and cupcakes. Our choices were:

  • Oreo Mini Cake: This adorable mini cake was a dream for Oreo lovers, with layers of moist chocolate cake, vegan cream filling, and a cookie crumble topping. It was both decadent and nostalgic.
  • Carrot Mini Cake: Moist, spiced to perfection, and topped with a creamy vegan frosting, this mini cake was at the servers recommendation and had everything you’d expect from a classic carrot cake – with the added bonus of being completely plant-based.

Each bite at Chök was a delightful journey of flavours and textures, and we loved their creativity behind their vegan Seville offerings.

Monasterio Heladería Artesanal and Chök are just two examples of how local establishments are embracing the vegan trend, offering innovative and delicious alternatives to classic favourites.

The best part of our day wasn’t just the food itself, but the warm and welcoming atmosphere we experienced at both locations. The staff were knowledgeable about vegan options, eager to share recommendations, and passionate about their craft.
