YOUR GUIDE TO TREATING YOURSELF FOR A CHANGE

Whether you have little ones at home, or you’re working hard every day at your 9-5, it’s not always easy to put ourselves first. It’s just not in our nature to do so. Well, I’m here to tell you that you need to start looking after yourself a bit more. Not only for your physical health, but for your mental health too. Sure a weekend in watching the ballet in Vienna and soaking up the culture would be perfect, however it’s not always practical logistically or financially…
So, what other ways can you spoil and treat yourself? Well, here I’ve created a simple guide of activities you can indulge yourself with.

Enjoy!

Look extra special on a regular day

Who says you can only dress up on the weekends? Break out that gorgeous red lipstick and make a bold statement on the school run, choose your heeled courts today instead of those reliable old flats and marvel at how different you look yet how incredible you feel. Instead of shirt and trousers, slip into a stylish dress and team it with a belt around the middle, keeping it formal yet bursting with your personality. You deserve to look and feel great every day of the week.

Go somewhere new

That new coffee shop on the other side of town that everyone is talking about – go and see what all the fuss is about. Sure it’s a bit out of the way but make a day of it. Discover what other little gems are available to you in your local area. From independent beauty stores to vintage clothing shops, artisan deli’s, new parks and places of interest, go and spoil yourself.

Take a long hot bath

There’s very little that a long hot soak in a tub can’t fix. So, as soon as you’re free of your daily routine, run yourself a nice hot bath, throw in a bath bomb and even add some essential oils to help relax those aching muscles. Add a relaxing playlist, some candles and even a glass of something cold and you’ll wonder why you don’t do this more often.

Go for a walk

Walking is good for the soul. But avoid walking through the city centre and instead opt for a route that takes you to some beautiful places instead. A walk through a national park, around a lake, or even along the beach. Moving your body reduces your stress levels, and lowers your blood pressure, it also gives you time to reflect and reset your though processes. A treat for body and mind!Your guide to treating yourself for a change 12

Catch up

When was the last time you saw your oldest friend? Social media makes it easy for us to keep in touch, but modern life doesn’t make it easy to see each other very often So, make a conscious effort to try and get your schedules to not clash for a change. Meet for coffee, go for a walk together or just invite them round for a cup of tea and a catch up. You’ll feel great.Your guide to treating yourself for a change 16
