GETTING COSY – SPEND A WINTER WEEKEND IN
I’m am such a homebody it is untrue. I love that when it comes to winter, it is socially acceptable to have a cosy day in with the fire on. Cosy pyjamas, a hot Ribena and warm, relaxing soaks in the bath are a few of the reasons why winter weekends spent inside rock. This post is especially important for all of you guys who struggle to step away from your phones, a hectic workload or a busy life schedule. Train yourself to take some proper time out with friends and family. It’s time to relax! Today I thought I’d talk you through a few of the steps I take to keep snuggly and do a digital detox on weekends when it starts to snow. So crank up that heat, dust off that hot cocoa tub and pop on the hot water!
To start with, a bath is a must. I have recently shared a post about my love of baths and a few ways to do a bath the right way so check it out if you are not yet a bath lover. Seriously though, what is a cosy night in without a long soak? Grundos home booster set from Complete Pump Supplies is a perfect solution if low water pressure prevents you from filling up that tub. A lovely steaming bath with a few drops of lavender essential oil is a good nights sleep remedy right there.
Doing a digital detox is a great way to get cosy and be present in the moment. I notice family and friends are picking up their phones more and more in social situations and its an unhealthy habit. Shutting your phone away or switching it off for a short amount of time can feel great. Sure it does chop you out of the loop for a few hours, but it stops any hassling or stress. After getting emails from PR companies regarding campaign posts on Christmas Day, I knew this year I had to take more time for myself on the weekend and stop reaching for my phone as often. Technology is my main form of distraction and having some time without it frees up a bit of brain space and ends me wasting hours scrolling in my own little bubble. Whatever your main technology vice is – maybe it’s worth temporarily removing over a winter weekend.
Now its time to set the mood by playing some chill out tunes, turning on those lamps and switching off the main lights. Get the right snuggly loungewear and PJ’s on and get out the perfect bedding and blankets. Light a few candles around the room for some soothing scents. I love to spend time on a cold weekend in spent with my husband on little DIY projects, curled up reading a new book, getting out a board game with my family or crafting with my Mum. Whatever activity you choose, make sure it is something that you enjoy doing, and that will help you to unwind. Rest and relaxation will help you focus at the start of a new week.
